Louis Icart - Louis Icart Laziness

His etchings epitomize the depiction of women during the art deco period.
He created in excess of 500 etchings using a combination techniques including
etchings and dry point with hand coloring as characterized in the book
“Buying Works by Icart.” He created full sized etchings, erotic illustrated books,
beautiful pastel enhanced lithographs, menu covers, posters, postcards, advertising
prints, and oils on canvas.

Condition Report

Image Size: 14 7/8 x 18 15/16″
Paper Size: 17 3/16 x 21 1/8″
The paper is heavy, cream, wove. The etching has been professionally conserved.
There is no foxing to the sheet or image. There is repaired damage in the image in the right center quadrant that is quite difficult to see and there is a short (1”) repaired cut in the left quadrant that is quite difficult to see. The upper right corner is missing a piece about 3” by 1/2”. This extends to within 3/4” of the image.
The signature (lr) is strong and there is the notation “epd’a” in the (ll).
The copyright (ul) reads “Copyright 1925 by les Graveurs Modernes 194 Rue de Rivoli, Paris” and is clear and strong.
The image is clean with a B and the sheet a B.
