Louis Icart - Louis Icart Parrots

His etchings epitomize the depiction of women during the art deco period.
He created in excess of 500 etchings using a combination techniques including
etchings and dry point with hand coloring as characterized in the book
“Buying Works by Icart.” He created full sized etchings, erotic illustrated books,
beautiful pastel enhanced lithographs, menu covers, posters, postcards, advertising
prints, and oils on canvas.

Condition Report

Image Size: 18 1/2 x 14″ (oval)
Paper Size: 21 9/16 x 17″ (oval)
All margins have been trimmed to fit in an oval frame. The paper is heavy wove with no watermark. The etching has been professionally conserved and is not laid down.
There is no light toning or acid burn, but there is minor skinning on the verso where the etching had previously been laid down and a thinned area on the edge of the margin that has been filled. The image itself is in very good condition.
The signature (lr) is strong, the notation #247 appears in pencil in the (ll).
The copyright reads “Copyright 1925 by les Graveurs Moderns 194 rue de Rivoli, Paris” (ul). There is no blindstamp.
The hand coloring in the lips and nostrils is strong.
Overall the image is an A-, and the sheet an A-.
