Louis Icart - Louis Icart Retiring

His etchings epitomize the depiction of women during the art deco period.
He created in excess of 500 etchings using a combination techniques including
etchings and dry point with hand coloring as characterized in the book
“Buying Works by Icart.” He created full sized etchings, erotic illustrated books,
beautiful pastel enhanced lithographs, menu covers, posters, postcards, advertising
prints, and oils on canvas.

Condition Report

Image Size: 14 7/8″ diameter
Paper Size: 18 7/8 x 19 3/4″ (rectangular)
The paper is heavy, cream, wove with no watermark. The etching has been professionally conserved, is not and has not been laid down not has it had an overmatte attached. The sheet and image are very clean.
There is no foxing or scratches.
The signature (lr) is strong and the notation “ep art” (artist proof) is in the (ll).
The copyright (ul) reads “Copyright 1925 by les Graveurs Modernes 194 Rue de Rivoli, Paris” and is moderate.
The image is clean with hand coloring to the shoes, nightgown, and face. Overall this is a good impression.
Overall the image is an A and the sheet an A.
