Salvador Dali Memories of Surrealism – 1971

We sell individual photoliths from the subject suite.  Transworld Art published the suite. The sheets have full margins. They are loose as issued. Dali signed the photoliths in pencil in the lower right. Numbers appear in the lower left. Included with this set is the portfolio case, the justification page andtext by Dali. Pierre Restany wrote the introduction.

This is background information.

Dalí was known for his role in Surrealism. He was also a seminal example of celebrity showmanship. Subsequently the cult of personality is a phenomenon that dominates popular culture today. Dali was always a colorful and flamboyant presence. This is reflected by his signature cape, wide-eyed expression and trademark upturned waxed mustache. The total tirage is 500. There are sets in French and in English. For the English version, the first 45 (A I/XL – A XL/XL) are on Japon paper. The next 25 (AP A I/XXV – A XXV/XXV are on Arches. There are 10 (A A – A J) on Japon. Dali dedicated these. There are 175 (A 1/175 – A 175/175). on Arches. For the French version, editions are the same except the A is replaced with an F. In more that one edition either the F or A have been erased.
