Salvador Dali Les Chevaux de Dali – 1983

The Salvador Dali Les Chevaux de Dali suite is a suite of 16 or 18  lithographs.  There were two versions. The paper is Rives Infinity.  The works are in a purple slipcase with brass plate and text.  The sheets have full margins.  They are loose as issued.  The image size is 15 7/8 x 11 3/4 in. The sheet size is 22 x 14 3/8 in. This is one of 4980 copies on Rives.  Armand and Georges Israel published the suite. The signature for the 16 lithographs is in the block.  The location is outside the image.  The title is printed in the lower right corner. Each lithograph comes with text describing the basis for the image. The blindstamp and the mark ” S.P.A.D.E.M.” are in the lower left.  These lithographs are after Dali.  The complete suite is Available.

This is background information.

Dalí was known for his role in Surrealism. He was also a seminal example of celebrity showmanship.  Subsequently the cult of personality is a phenomenon that dominates popular culture today. Dali was always a colorful and flamboyant presence. This is reflected by his signature cape, wide-eyed expression and trademark upturned waxed mustache.  Dalí was a master of self-promotion and spectacle.
