Louis Icart - Grapes

The Louis Icart Grapes etching fits the description that his etchings depict elegant women during the art deco period.
He created more than of 500 etchings by using different techniques. These include
etching and dry point combined with hand coloring. Furthermore, the book
“Buying Works by Icart.” describes his methods. Mainly he created full sized etchings.
But he also liked erotic illustrated books, and pastel enhanced lithographs.
Futher, he produced menu covers, advertising prints, and oils on canvas.

Condition Report

Image Size: 15 3/4 x 10 7/8″
Paper Size: 20 x 16″
The paper is heavy wove and has been professionally conserved. The image and sheet are very clean.
There are no scratches, tears, rips, foxing or pinholes to the image or sheet.
The signature (lr) is strong and clear. The EM blindstamp (ll) is strong together with the notation “66.”
The copyright notation (lr) is correct and is clear and strong. The editor’s notation (lr) is correct and about half of it is clear and the other half is difficult to read.
The hand coloring in the lips, face and grapes is subtle and nice.
The etching has been framed with its original frame and is double matted with French lines. (see image on web-site)

Overall the image an A and the sheet an A.
