Louis Icart - Louis Icart Lacquered Screen

His etchings epitomize the depiction of women during the art deco period.
He created in excess of 500 etchings using a combination techniques including
etchings and dry point with hand coloring as characterized in the book
“Buying Works by Icart.” He created full sized etchings, erotic illustrated books,
beautiful pastel enhanced lithographs, menu covers, posters, postcards, advertising
prints, and oils on canvas.

Condition Report

Image Size: 14 1/16 x 8 5/16″
Paper Size: 18 1/8 x 11 3/4″
The paper is heavy wove with no watermark. The etching has been professionally conserved and is very clean.
There are no scratches or foxing to the image or the sheet. There are framer’s notations in the lower margin.
The signature (lr) is strong. There is a strong pencil notation “2” (ll).
The copyright (ur) reads “Copyright 1922 by the F H Bressler Co Milwaukee, USA” and the publisher’s note (ul) rears “Publie par l’Estampe Moderne  – 14 rue de Richelieu Paris 1922.” Both are correct and legible.
There is strong coloring in the image. There is a very rich burr. This is a strong impression.
Overall the image an A+ and the sheet an A-.
