Louis Icart - Louis Icart Plate of Milk

His etchings epitomize the depiction of women during the art deco period.
He created in excess of 500 etchings using a combination techniques including
etchings and dry point with hand coloring as characterized in the book
“Buying Works by Icart.” He created full sized etchings, erotic illustrated books,
beautiful pastel enhanced lithographs, menu covers, posters, postcards, advertising
prints, and oils on canvas.

Condition Report

Image Size: 15 1/8 x 11 3/8″
Paper Size: 21 3/4 x 16 7/8″
The paper is heavy wove with no watermark. The etching has been professionally conserved, is not laid down, but there is minor paper thinning due to top matte removal on the outer top margin.
There is no light toning, acid burn, pinholes, or tears. This is a very clean sheet and image.
The signature is strong (lr), the EM blind stamp (ll) with the notation (175) (ll).
The copyright (ur) reads “Copyright 1921 by the F. H. Bresler & Co, Milwaukee _ USA.” The publisher information (ul) reads “Publie par l’Estampe Moderne, 14 rue de Richelieu Paris, 1921.”
The hand coloring in the lips, rouge, hat and bouquet is very good.
Overall the image is an A and the sheet is an A-.
