Louis Icart - Louis Icart Preferred One

His etchings epitomize the depiction of women during the art deco period.
He created in excess of 500 etchings using a combination techniques including
etchings and dry point with hand coloring as characterized in the book
“Buying Works by Icart.” He created full sized etchings, erotic illustrated books,
beautiful pastel enhanced lithographs, menu covers, posters, postcards, advertising
prints, and oils on canvas.

Image Size: 14 x 18 1/2″ (oval)
Paper Size: 17 x 22 1/2″ (rectangular)
The paper is heavy wove. The etching has been professionally conserved.
There is no light toning, acid burn, foxing, or tears. There is very minor skinning to the outer front margin due to overmatte removal.
The signature is strong (lr), with the faint notation “346” (ll).
The copyright (ur) reads “Copyright 1925 by les Graveurs Modernes 194 rue de Rivoli Paris” and is clear and moderate.
There is good hand coloring.
Overall the image is an A and the sheet is an A-.
