Louis Icart - Louis Icart Spilled Oranges

His etchings epitomize the depiction of women during the art deco period.
He created in excess of 500 etchings using a combination techniques including
etchings and dry point with hand coloring as characterized in the book
“Buying Works by Icart.” He created full sized etchings, erotic illustrated books,
beautiful pastel enhanced lithographs, menu covers, posters, postcards, advertising
prints, and oils on canvas.

Paper Size: 20 1/8 x 15 3/8″
The work has been professionally conserved and there is no toning to either the image or the sheet. The paper is heavy wove with no watermark.
There is no fading, foxing, light toning, pinholes, tears, or scratches.
The signature (lr) is in crayon and is moderate; the notation (ll) “243” is moderate together with the EM blindstamp. The copyright (ur) reads “Copyright 1921 the F. H. Bresler & Co., Milwaukee, USA,” and the publisher’s notation ((ul) reads “Publie par l’Estampe Moderne, 14 rue de Richelieu, Paris 1921.” The hand coloring in the lips is very good. The foliage in the tree is black as shown in Holland.
Overall the image is an A and the sheet is an A-.

The signature (lr) is in crayon and is strong; the notation (ll) “293/300” is strong together with the EM blindstamp. The copyright (ur) reads “Copyright 1921 the F. H. Bresler & Co., Milwaukee, USA,” and the publisher’s notation ((ul) reads “Publie par l’Estampe Moderne, 14 rue de Richelieu, Paris 1921.” The hand coloring in the lips is very good. foliage in the tree is green.
