Louis Icart - Louis Icart Letter
His etchings epitomize the depiction of women during the art deco period.
He created in excess of 500 etchings using a combination techniques including
etchings and dry point with hand coloring as characterized in the book
“Buying Works by Icart.” He created full sized etchings, erotic illustrated books,
beautiful pastel enhanced lithographs, menu covers, posters, postcards, advertising
prints, and oils on canvas.

Image Size: 17 5/8 x 12 3/4″ (oval)
Paper Size: 22 1/4 x 17 1/2″ (oval)
The paper is heavy wove. The etching has been professionally conserved and the image is very clean.
There are no scratches, rips, foxing the image or sheet.
The signature (lr) and the notation “175” (ll) are normal.
The copyright notation (ur) reads “Copyright by les Graveurs Moderne Paris” and the editor’s is clear and correct, and the editor’s notation (ul) reads “Editie par la Societie Les Graveurs Moderne” 194 rue de Rivoli Paris.” Both are moderate and correct.
The coloring is very good and there is a rich burr.
Overall the image an A and the sheet an A.
