Salvador Dali Huit Peches Capitaux or Eight Deadly Sins – 1966
Salvador Dali Huit Peches Capitaux or Eight Deadly Sins is a suite of 8 etchings. It was published in 1966. Rigal did the engravings. Jean Schneider of Basel published the suite. The total tirage is 170. There are 125 on BFK Rives, 35 (XXXV) on japon, and 10 (A-J) on BFK Rives. There were also EAs on both papers.
The set currently for sale is 104/125. It is contained is a portfolio box. Each etching is contained in it’s own sleeve with title.
We had set IV/V on japon. It is sold. It is contained is a portfolio box and each etching is contained in it’s own sleeve with title. The suite fits into the portfolio box. This is interesting in that the catalogues indicate that sets I – V originally contained two extra suites. If this is the case, the extra suites would have been contained in separate boxes. The set I sold stands alone as the suite.
Also notice how the images look much better than shown in Field’s catalogue.
