Salvador Dali Divine Comedy- 1963

The French version of the Divine Comedy illustrated by Salvador Dali was published by Joseph Foret and by Jean Estrade of Les Heures Claires. Foret published only 33 deluxe books which are very special. They contained original watercolors, many of which have by now been removed from the books and sold separately. The common French edition published by Jean Estrade came in 5 different versions. Each version had the text and 100 woodblock prints, but four of the versions had extra prints.

1 – #s 1 – 15 are very rare and contain an inked plate, one suite of engravings, one suite of the illustrations, and a decomposition.
2 – #s 16 – 165 have the text with 100 prints, 100 engravings in b/w, one suite of 100 prints w/o text, and 6 decompositions.
3 – #s 166 – 515 have the text with 100 prints, one suite of 100 prints w/o text, and 6 decompositions.
4 – #s 516 – 865 have the text with 100 prints and 6 decompositions.
